Notice on terminating the transmission and reception of e-mail messages with password- protected file attachments

Kobe Steel, Ltd. will terminate the transmission and reception of messages with password-protected file attachments (ZIP files, Office documents, PDF files, etc.) in the email system for use of its employees as of July 23, 2023.

Since it is difficult to check the security of incoming messages with password-protected file attachments, they may be used as a means of malicious cyberattacks. Against this background, we have decided to terminate the transmission and reception of messages with password-protected file attachments as part of the efforts to strengthen our security measures.

As of the effective date above, password-protected files will no longer be sent or received via email. Please consult with the person in charge (recipient) regarding the method of exchanging files with our company’s employees.
