Kobe Steel selects new representative director

TOKYO, March 3, 2011 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. announces that at its board of director's meeting held today, it decided to appoint a new representative director effective April 1.

New Representative Director

The new representative director, his title, and areas of responsibilities are asfollows:

Hiroaki Fujiwara

Current title	Senior Managing Director
New title	Executive Vice President & Representative Director
New areas of responsibility	Oversees the Corporate Planning Department, Steel & Natural Resources Overseas Planning Department (provisional English name), IT Planning Department, Accounting Department, Finance Department, and overseas locations under the head office. Oversees companywide information systems.

Continuing Representative Directors

The following representative directors will continue and their areas of responsibility from April 1 are as follows:
